For Shot Blasting purposes, A smaller size steel shot can produces a clean, smooth and polished surface through a peening action created by the acceleration of the shot. Whereas; A larger more aggressive shot can aggressively remove excessive flash on castings to eliminate the need for filing.

For a Shot Peening application, shot media is used to induce compressive stresses on the surface of the part to improve:
