Leak Test Capability
Leak Testing is an essential element in product quality testing for a wide range of industries.
The purpose of Leak Testing parts is to:
- Confirm manufacturing process is conforming to specification
- Reduce manufacturing costs
- Assure product will perform function for which it is designed.
- Reduce and/or eliminate warranty problems
- Improve Customer Satisfaction
Saran offers two types of Leak Testing; Water Dunk / Air Decay
Water Dunk Leak Testing
This Leak Testing method entails clamping a part to a fixture to seal or plug any openings in the part. The sealed cavities inside the part are then air-pressurized to a prescribed pressure. Once the air pressure inside the part is reached, the part and the fixture are submerged into a water tank. A trained operator then visually checks for leaks by looking for escaping air (in the form of bubbles) from the part.

Air Pressure Leak Testing
The Air Decay Leak Testing method is similar to the water dunk method in that the parts are sealed on to a fixture to isolate cavities in the part that are to be tested. After the sealed part is pressurized, the pressure is then electronically monitored to detect any drop in pressure that would indicate a leak path in the part.
